Amon Ra Collective

Leeds-based jazz band, Amon Ra Collective are a large community of over 20 members, appearing at live shows for the past 2 years in different combinations of between 2-15 people. Led by Samuel Ehret-Pickett, they play an exciting fusion of energetic solos, pulsing rhythms,  electronic noise, free improvisation and Butch Morris' Conduction method with jazz, rock, world, afrobeat, drum and bass, and funk compositions. 

 

Amon Ra Collection released their debut album on 24/10/24 through James Mainwaring's Lamplight Social Records and got a warm reception with plays on internet radio stations and positive reviews on blogs such as avantmusicnews.com and furtherdot.com.

Musicians from Amon Ra Collective are part of the vibrant Leeds jazz scene belonging to groups such as Fergus Quill’s Imaginary Big Band, Ancient Infinity Orchestra (Gondwana), Nika Ticciati’s Cataclysm Ensemble, Afrodesia and Rushbonds.

Inspired by the music of Miles Davis’ electric Jazz Fusion, John Coltrane’s Free Jazz and the spiritual world music of Don Cherry.
